Mid-Autumn: Planting Hope in the Desert of Minqin

This Mid-Autumn Festival, our team celebrated in a different way —
instead of gathering under the moon, we joined local desert control workers in Minqin, Gansu,
to stabilize sand dunes and plant trees.

Located between the Tengger and Badain Jaran Deserts,
Minqin is one of China’s frontlines in combating desertification.
Here, we brought our PLA (Polylactic Acid) sand barrier bags,
offering an eco-friendly solution for sand fixation and vegetation restoration.

Made from corn-based biodegradable material,
our PLA sand barrier bags are designed to be both strong and sustainable.
They help stabilize shifting sands, retain soil moisture, and create a favorable environment for plant growth.
Over time, the material naturally decomposes and returns to the soil, leaving no plastic residue behind.

As the moon rose over the quiet desert,
the grids of sand barriers stretched across the dunes like a soft green promise.
With these biodegradable barriers in place,
plants like Haloxylon ammodendron and Calligonum mongolicum can take root and thrive —
bringing new life to once-barren land.

This Mid-Autumn, we found a new kind of reunion —between people and nature.
And we believe that with the continued use of bio-based materials,
the edges of the desert will gradually turn green again.
